WORLD’S LEADING FRENCH MARKET OPERATOR, BENSIDOUN USA, KICKS OFF SUMMER MONTHS WITH OPENING OF ITS CHICAGO-AREA FRENCH MARKET Authentic French Open-Air Experience Brings Communities, Residents Together While Supporting Local Businesses CHICAGO (April 19, 2012) – The world’s premiere operator of authentic French open-air markets kicks off its new 2012 season officially this weekend with the opening of the popular Wheaton French Market on Saturday, April 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Main and Liberty Streets. With the growing popularity of its local outdoor French markets, Bensidoun USA is also exploring adding three new Chicagoland locations this summer–in Country Club Hills, Skokie and downtown Chicago at Prudential Plaza–to its long and growing list of European-style markets that attract thousands of loyal visitors each and every week. Public markets are synonymous with French culture and style, as expressed through the sale of fresh, locally grown produce, seasonal flowers, boutique clothing and jewelry and original arts and crafts. Bensidoun USA’s French Markets are a direct descendent of this rich and beloved tradition. Bensidoun opened its first market nearly 60 years ago outside of the City of Lights, expanding to Illinois in 1997. Today, Bensidoun USA operates more than 80 markets in the Chicagoland area, New York and of course, Paris. “What really makes our French Markets unique is the support of the local communities where we operate,” said Sebastien Bensidoun, executive vice-president of Bensidoun USA. “Over the years, we’ve seen businesses grow and flourish in an often challenging economy. The Bensidoun family is truly devoted to supporting local small businesses and creating meaningful relationships within the communities it serves. Many of our vendor and customer relationships go back 15 years to the very beginning of our US efforts.” Bensidoun USA operates both large and small markets—each being unique to meet the needs of the community it’s in. Regardless of size though, if you stroll through any of Bensidoun’s French Markets, you are guaranteed to experience the finest in local produce, delicacies from well-known area restaurants, freshly baked breads and pastries from artisan bakeries, and seasonal spreads from Chicagoland orchards. Visitors can continue the journey by perusing one-of-a-kind crafts to enhance home décor and unique jewelry from emerging designers. With the strong presence of favorite local shops and restaurants, attendees are guaranteed for an irreplaceable experience throughout each event.
